Billy, I think Serge was referring to "his" smooth chest.

You are rather dangerous with PhotoShop. I love it.

Serge, it's looking very nice! I agree with Billy--the dark top and light B&S are quite appealing.

Ha! The Serginator--you know he'll be back!!!

The Serginator is back with a smooth chest, lots of hair and a French accent, whew, what a combo that will strike!

Thanks guys and gals, you are great!

Thanks Charlie dude, it's so good to see ya postin' again bro!

Hey folks, how about some mo' piccys?

Here's the brace pattern transferred on the white ash back

cut the contour of the back and it starts to look like this box is quietly taking shape!

Today, i also cut all the brace stock to length and heith but will inlay the ebony backstrip in the back prior to glueing the braces on the plates, i would have taken pics of where i'm at now but relatives stormed at our place today and stayed for dinner, will show more tomorrow!

Oh and For Ron, Hesh and Billy, i did take pics of my downdraft table but i will start a separate thread,

Thanks for everything my friends!

Serge

Hey Serge,
That's looking great so far.
Are you too tired of compliments?
Well, here's another nod to a fine looking rosette.
Good composition, nice contrast to the top.
And, it will look appropriate for the light colored sides/back.
You're keeping your elements down to managable levels,
and they're all working nicely together.

Steve

Right on dude!!!

I've been away from the site for a few days and WOW! You're really putting the pedal to the metal, my friend. And it's really looking great too!

That rosette is gorgeous! That is going to be a fantastic looking gitbox...

Now I'm going to bind mine this afternoon, the channels are all done (so is the end-graft)... So,... I'll race you!!! (hmmm, emoticons not working at the moment)... :) :) ;) Old school emoticons!

Serge Buddy! I like this a lot! Between Hesh's great combos and yours there's all kinds of possibilities opening up! What gave you the idea for this?

Serge that is coming along GREAT!! Better not let Mom see it she might demand a trade....Your guitars are so much better with each one. Keep it up!! I know that I certainly wouldn't challenge you to race for the finish!

Hey! Pretty soon that will be a whole kitchen party played on your instruments . How cool will that be!

Shane

Muchos gracias los amigos!

QUOTE:Serge Buddy! I like this a lot! Between Hesh's great combos and yours there's all kinds of possibilities opening up! What gave you the idea for this?

the materials that were available my dear friend! Seriously though, i took the idea of rope purfling from a fellow OLFer who's name i can't remember but who had used herringbone, rope was then obvious to me since i had a few strips left

Thanks Shane, that is your very fine red cedar top buddy, i love the look and the tone of it, i can't wait for the box to be closed to hear how it sounds! I was gonna challenge you for a race to the finish but i know, i know, it would not be fair since you have a lot of shop preps to do for winter eh?!

Cheers

This is what i was up to tonoght...

Prepared some hide glue that i had in the freezer, did not have any beads anywhere in the shop so i used bolts and washers to cover the bottom of the hot pot

glued the braces on the underside of the top, this time, i was a bit more neat than on no 2, i used a sort of pointy scalpel to clean the excess after 5 minutes

And finally inlayed the ebony back strip, first time i work with it and loved it! The only bummer i had today was a slip of the router and made a larger pass at the lower bout, filled it with white ash dust for now but i will probably have to sand and refill that area though!

Thanks again for watching!

Serge

Thanks bro, would it be possible to use Mac ebony for fretboard, headplate veneer and bridge on this build even though the bindings are sdark black ebony??

I'm asking because Uncle Bob is supposed to send me some Mac ebony appointments soon and was wondering if the 2 types of ebony will work together, TIA

I can't see why they wouldn't work Serge. You can always die the mac ebony (although that would be a shame IMO). I think that Bob has mac ebony bindings too, you could match it all up.

The last guitar I did had mac ebony head plate, fb and bridge (mind you I did curly maple bindings). I sure like the streaking of mac ebony, sweet stuff.Rod True39042.1370949074

I have never built with Ash, but that sure looks
nice. Looking good, nice top and rosette also.
Glad to see the progress.

Thanks Rod and Tom!

Rod, i do have ebony bindings here, i was just wondering, if my guitar was already bound with regular ebony, would there be a big difference the look of my regular ebony bindings and the other Mac ebony appointments that i will receive? Thanks bro!

Thanks Tom, white ash is a great surprise to me, love the color, the way it bends super easy and also the way it taps, it won't be the last set i'll use i'm sure!

It really depends on home much the Mac ebony your getting is stripped. I doubt that there well be much if any of a noticable difference. No one really looks at the bindings that closely anyway

Thanks bro, that is reassuring, and even if there is a bit of contrast, i guess it wouldn't hurt eh?

Thanks
